Support for all your mental health needs

The same therapeutic approaches used in traditional talk therapy (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, etc.) are incorporated into EAT, however appointments happen outside (or in the barn) with horses. In tandem with the therapeutic approaches, we work with the horses who act as emotional mirrors for people. Horses are herd animals, which means that they have a strong emotional sense for safety. Often similar to how we feel anxiety and fear, they respond by fighting or flighting. Horses never hide their emotions which is why they’re such a great part of therapy as we have to learn in the moment how to better cope and regulate our thoughts, feelings and emotions.

“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.”
