Where will sessions take place?
Typically we will spend time outside in the ring, paddocks or inside the barn. Part of the experience is spending time outside.
Will there be riding?
No, equine therapy doesn’t include any riding but rather we’ll spend time doing groundwork (grooming, leading, etc.)
What’s the difference between equine assisted therapy and traditional talk therapy?
Equine assisted therapy is a more experiential form of therapy than traditional talk therapy. The same therapeutic approaches are used, however we take the sessions outside with horses.
Is Equine Assisted Therapy covered by insurance?
Yes- I’m masters leveled social worker licensed with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers (NSCSW). It’s suggested you check your insurance/benefit provider for social work coverage. I’m also setup and and able to direct bill through Blue Cross, Victim Services, Canada Life, Non-Insured Health Benefits (NCIB) and Veteran Affairs.
